Q. How can a new Outlook(classic) mail profile be created?
A. To create a new mail profile in the Outlook desktop application, follow the steps below:
- Hold down the Shift key while opening Outlook.
If Outlook is already running, close it first before performing this action.
*Keep holding down the Shift key until Outlook has fully launched.
- Click "Options".
- From the Profile Name dropdown menu, select the profile you want to delete, then click "Delete".
*If you want to keep an existing profile, proceed with adding a new profile instead of deleting.

- If a warning message appears, click "Yes" to proceed.
*Clicking "Yes" will delete the data stored within Outlook for that profile.
*Deleting a previous user's profile does not delete emails stored on the THERS mail server.
- Click "New...".
- Enter any desired profile name (e.g., "outlook") and click “OK” to continue.
*If you enter the same profile name as the one that was deleted, a message may appear stating:
"The profile name you entered already exists. Enter a different profile name."
In that case, please enter a different profile name.
- Enter your THERS email address (e.g., tokai.taro.x9@mail.f.thers.ac.jp, @s.gifu-u.ac.jp, @s.mail.nagoya-u.ac.jp, or @mail.a.thers.ac.jp) in the Email Address field, then click "Connect".
- When the Sign-in screen appears, enter your THERS account (e.g., ab.12c.3456@f.thers.ac.jp, @s.thers.ac.jp, or @a.thers.ac.jp), then click "Next".
- Enter the password for your THERS account, then click "Sign in".
- The multi-factor authentication request was approved using Microsoft Authenticator to complete the sign-in process.
-
When the screen asking "Sign in to all apps, websites, and services on this device?" appears, click "No, this app only".
*If "Yes" was selected by mistake, please refer to the following article.
Reference: When trying to use Teams, the message "Error code: 80180014" is displayed.
- Once the account has been successfully added, select "Done" to complete the process.
Send a test email to your THERS email address and confirm that it is received successfully.
