Q. The message "Editing on Mac is not permitted for this account. Please contact your administrator for details about the Microsoft 365 plan." appears, and I cannot edit in Office.
The message "Activate Microsoft 365 to create and edit" appears. When attempting to activate Microsoft 365, it shows "Unknown error" or "An unknown error has occurred. Error code 0x0"is displayed. As a result, Office applications cannot be used for editing.
A. Starting July 13, 2026, Office apps on unsupported operating systems will enter feature-limited mode, and you may not be able to edit, save, or create new files. Please update macOS and Microsoft 365 for Mac (Office) to the latest version.
If you are unable to update Microsoft 365 for Mac (Office), please try reinstalling it.
* The system requirements for Microsoft 365 for Mac are one of the three most recent versions: the latest version of macOS and the two previous versions.
