Q. I cannot search for users in Teams. Why is that?
A. To strengthen personal information protection, Tokai National Higher Education and Research System has implemented certain restrictions on the user search function when using Teams with a THERS account.
Since March 28, 2022, the following restrictions have been applied to the user search function.
| Category | Details of the restrictions |
| Faculty staff | Student account information cannot be searched. |
| Students | It is not possible to search for account information of other users. |
| Individual applicants | It is not possible to search for account information of other users. |
Due to restrictions on the user search function, communication in Teams is only possible with users whose account information can be searched.

【To chat with a user who is not searchable】
At this time, there is no method available to chat between arbitrary users.
If you need to communicate frequently with certain users, please create your own team, share the team join code with them, and communicate within the channel.
*If you are in the same team, you can chat with a user who is not searchable. (Group chats are not available.)
Here is how to start a chat:
- Click "More options (…)" next to the team name > Click "Manage team" > Select the "Members" tab
- Click the icon of the user you want to start a chat with.
