Q. How do I create a local account on Windows?
A. Please refer to the steps below.
- Click the "Windows Start" button, then choose "Settings (gear)" > "Accounts".
- On the "Accounts" screen, verify that the account you are currently signed in with is "Administrator".
*If you are not an Administrator, you cannot create a local account. Please sign in with an administrator account.
- In "Account settings", click "Other users".
- Click "Add account" displayed to the right of "Add other user".
- On the "How will this person sign in?" screen, click "I don't have this person's sign-in information".
- On the "Create account" screen, click "Add a user without a Microsoft account".
- On the "Create a user for this PC" screen, enter your desired username in "Who's going to use this PC?" and your chosen password in "Make it secure".
- In "In case you forget your password", enter three security questions and their answers, then click "Next".
- When the local account you created appears, the setup is complete.
